Upcoming Events

1.  Robert and me will be playing classical guitar duets at the Urban Soul Cafe situated below May Street Presbyterian Church (May Street, behind the City Hall – at the junction with Alfred Street) on THURSDAY 29th NOVEMBER at 7.30pm.  We would appreciate your support if possible.  If you haven’t got back to me already please let me know if you are able to come –  I need numbers for Cafe who will be providing refreshments at the interval.  There will be collection at the end of the recital in aid of Artscare, Northern Ireland.

2.  The Ensemble group meets for the first time for the 2012-2013 season on SUNDAY 2nd DECEMBER.  I suggest we meet at my house at 2.30pm and work until approx 5pm.  I intend that we look at the new pieces, decide what we can play and distribute parts.  Again please let me know if you are coming if you haven’t already done so.  Gerry has suggested that we consider playing at additional events as well and the Ards Festival and Holywood Culture night and that if the Urban Soul Cafe proves to be a suitable venue the CGSNI could put on a fund raising performance for friends and family.

3.  I shall also soon need numbers for the Christmas Dinner and Social.  Once again this will be held at Rockmount Golf Club just outside Carryduff (  We normally meet at 2pm with a view to eating at 3pm followed by playing.  We have never had a finishing time but generally people have dispersed around 6pm.

4. Elizabeth Kenny (Lute) is playing a lunchtime concert at the Harty Room, Queens University at 1.10pm on Thursday 29th November.  The concert will feature music by some of the giants of the lute repertoire in the early-17th century, including works by Dowland, Laurencin and Kapsberger.

5.  The Belfast Music Society are bringing Milos Karadaglic to play a summer celebrity recital on Wednesday 5th June 2013 at 8pm.  This will be in St Thomas Church, Eglantine Avenue, Belfast

I shall look forward to seeing you at these events

ensemble meetings rehearsals

Ensemble Practice!

As the society will not be having a regular meeting on the first Sunday in December (due to Christmas dinner) the society will instead be hosting an ensemble practice day instead.

Some music has been circulated amongst society members, chosen for a mixed ability group, and the intention of this first ensemble practice will most likely be to decide who should take which parts, and which pieces are suitable for performance.

If you are a CGSNI ensemble member, or even if you are just interested in joining the ensemble or listening in, please do come to the Ulster College of Music, Windsor Avenue, Belfast for 2.30pm on Sunday 2nd December. If you haven’t got the music yet you can let the committee know by emailing:

Hope to see you there!
